Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI)
Chambers of Commerce in India, which is committed to growth and development of various
sectors of economy.
FICCI recognizes SPORTS as the next boom market in India and can contribute significantly in
the economic growth of India and development of its youth. Therefore, it has been constantly
pursuing the growth and development of SPORTS SECTOR.
Beyond doubt, there is an enormous economic and new
business development potential in sports and exploiting it
requires experts and entrepreneurs.
For instance, more than 90 per cent of the sports persons
who are passionate about sports leave it. Limited career
opportunities in sports sector are a deterrent for those
who want to pursue sports. Even those who reach at
pinnacle suffer in the absence of support system in sports
and prefer foreign experts in absence of in-house
capabilities for right kind of coaches, academy, event
managers, sports scientist, physiotherapists, sponsorships
experts, marketing services, event management and so
on.
Also there is an obvious need of Public Private
Partnerships (PPP’s) to develop and maintain and operate
existing sports infrastructure. Opportunities like naming rights, bifurcation in various services
like stands, gym, retail services, marketing of events, selling tickets, membership base, food and
beverage management are to be exploited and presented to the stakeholders who are experts
in business development.

CALL FOR ARTICLES
The strong regional identities in India create a perfect
environment for nurturing league culture in various
sports.
This mismatch is an opportunity for creating right
framework and mechanisms to bridge the demand
supply gap. In other words, there are dozen ways to
explain the appeal of sports--and yet no way to explain
it.
FICCI invites sports experts, economic researchers,
academicians, sports management, physical education,
business management, commerce and economics
students etc. to share their vision on Sports Business
Development in India.
OBJECTIVE
The competition aims to document and disseminate vision of young demography of India to the
stakeholders including sports administrators of the country and leading companies from India
Inc.
This is an attempt to increase awareness and knowledge on the sports sector and encourage
people to explore the entrepreneurship potential in sports.
The views from young Indians will provide insights to practitioners and will help them improve
models of interventions for sports development and positively affect the sports governance in
the country.
