List of 5 favourite movies

Hi friends,

Below is a list of 5 of my favourite movies with a short synopsis of each of the movies. I like mostly crime, romantic, drama, epic, and occasionally western films.

1. PULP FICTION (1994)

Starring: John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis

Hailed as a classic, Pulp Fiction is very smartly written. This is the best crime film I've seen. What is so good about this film is even though it is a crime film, it is hilarious. It has its fair share of violence and R rated dialogues. Not suited for children and sensitive audiences, it shows the lives of Los Angeles mobsters, small-time criminals and an aging boxer. It is told in 7 parts, with a non-linear story-line. An unforgettable scene is when Jackson's character recites a passage from the Bible before executing someone.

    2. GOOD WILL HUNTING (1997)

Starring: Matt Damon, Robin Williams, Ben Affleck, Minnie Driver

One of my all-time favourites. This movie never gets old. A coming of age drama about a 20 year-old genius. This is a film with a lot of heart. This movie would have won the Oscar for best film had it not released in the same year as Titanic. Matt Damon's character is a 20 year-old genius who works as a janitor and is forced to see a therapist and study advanced mathematics in order to avoid jail time. What is memorable in the film is Robin William's performance and the scenes Robin Williams and Matt Damon did together. Robin Williams won the Oscar for best supporting actor for this film.

3. BEFORE SUNRISE (1995)

Starring: Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy

A charming romantic drama about a young man and woman who meet on a train and decide to spend the day together. The film follows their conversations as they get to know each other as they roam the streets of Vienna and subsequently fall in love. Taking place over the course of one night, their limited time together is always on their minds, and leads to their revealing more about themselves than they normally would, since both believe they will never see one another again.

4. GOODFELLAS (1990)

Starring: Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Ray Liotta

Another classic crime film and one of Robert De Niro's most famous. Directed by Martin Scorsese, this film is based on the rise and fall of the Lucchese crime family associates over a period from 1955 to 1980. The highlight of this film is Joe Pesci's performance, which makes the family 'over the top' funny, and which also earned Joe Pesci the Oscar for Best Supporting actor. Most of the film follows the exploits of Henry Hill and his friends as they participate in criminal activities and enjoy the benefits while trying to keep themselves safe. The film has R- rated dialogues and is not suitable for sensitive audiences.

                                                5. LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (1962)

Starring: Peter O'Toole, Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn

Lawrence of Arabia is a British epic film and is based on the life of T.E. Lawrence. It is widely considered one of the greatest and most influential films in the history of cinema. The film depicts Lawrence's experiences in Arabia during WWI. Running well over 3 hours, this film shows how a young man's love for the desert leads him into countless unforgettable adventures. When you watch this film, you get a feeling that you are watching something larger than life itself.

                                                         CHOOSE THE RIGHT

Tougher is the part of me
That doesn’t see
The people dying and crying
Sorry for the rapes and
Murders but these are not my crimes
I have my life my, family
And my own worries to worry for
‘Caring about myself and my owns

You say is the black part of mine’

Now left all that was mine
Caring for god’s other creation
That’s divine
Leaving out all the love and lust of life
I kiss the children other turn around at
I act like god’s child
But isn’t this white part of me engulfing
My life

Going through both I have learned
Neither the black nor the white
Fulfils the life
Its red part that beats
But satisfies
Never leave your loved ones at agony
And love others a
This is humanity
Choose the red, choose the right

Class Report, 18 September, 2012

Class started with the valuable words of Dr.Smita . She enlightened us on the types of communication. She spoke about interpersonal communication, intrapersonal communication, group communication and mass communication. Moreover she told us that mass communication is also called "Magic Multiplier".

Next class was taken by Dr.S K Lau, who continued with the topic "How to make website appealing?". He spoke about CGI(Common Gateway Interface) and SSI(Server Site Includes). He focused on some important things-
1)server should be effective.
2)website must be interactive.
3)content should be impressive.
He also said that Java is more applicable and interactive. In the end, he concluded that Website should be a "POWERHOUSE"(it must contain graphics, fonts, audios , photos ).

After, Dr. SK Lau's class , we had a class by Dr. Atish Parashar, who taught us the SRIF(Strongest Relevant Influential Factor) theory. He told us that this theory is very important in all forms of communication. Each and every communication(whether it is marketing, advertisement, public relations) it must have SRIF only then it is understood by the target audience. SRIF forms two circles and there overlapping is necessary. The two circles are -
1)Field of Experience and
2)Frame of Reference
He further emphasized on Web Page. He told that a web page communicates textually and visually. After this, sir told us some terms related to print media(newspaper). The length and width of a newspaper is 37cm and 47cm.
 The terms are-
1)Quark Express software for newspaper, it will automatically define the areas.
2)Karning Space is the space between two words . It is evenly distributed throughout the newspaper.
3)Tracking is the difference between two lines.
4)Gutter space is the space between two columns.
5)Heading is called Mast Head and it also communicates visually.
6) Left and right corners of a newspaper is called ear panel.
7) The other related terms are shoulder panel, focal point, blurbs, jump cut, solus advertisement.
The class was interactive and we got to learn very interesting things.

CHILD LABOUR: DISGRACE FOR THE SOCIETY

"CHILD IS THE FATHER OF MAN" the famous lines by William Wordworth. It symbolizes the need of children in building a healthy nation and society. Childhood is the first stage after infancy. It is the formative period in men's life. For their minds are very soft, receptive and plastic at this tender age.
Children’s mind is like potter's clay. It has to be shaped in a right manner. A child normally has to enjoy its childhood days with its parents, teachers, friends, etc. It is the age where fine and long lasting impressions gather in child's mind.

Childhood is the best time to develop spiritual, intellectual, emotional support. But this rule of nature has been crippled by the perilous child labour

Every child has his right to enjoy his childhood. But inspite of this a few  children are forcefully put to work throughout the world about 250million children are child labourer. Due to poverty poor parents put their children to work in order to supplement the family's economic status.

This conceal's the talent and interests in them. Their urge to go to school is dissmised by their parents. This makes the nation lose a few creative minds. The children are deprived of education. They are made to work under threatening conditions. They are overworked and under paid children are made to shine shoe on footpaths, they work as milkboys, ragpickers, house maids, cleaners in hotels....etc.

We can find children selling newspapers on highways. All such adverse practices are to be abolished once for all, without leaving its traces for future generations

CLASS REPORT

Today we had a class with Mr. Soumitra Bose, an eminent personality of the journalism fraternity. Like the previous class, today's too was an interactive session insteead of a stereotypical lecture. He taught us about the four pillars of Sports Marketing --

   PILLAR                                      COMPOSITION
1. Sports                                        (i) Athlete.
                                                      (ii) Sport.
2. Business                                     (i) Money.
                                                      (ii) Public Body/Corporate Body.
3. Management                               Managers.
4. Economics                                  Profit-Loss Analysis.

He then gave several examples of various sportspersons who were managed and taken care of by industrial and business giants, for instance, Sourav Ganguly is employed by Tata Steel and Saba Karim also worked for the same in PR Dept. We got to learn about the behind-the-scene stories of big names like Sahara and how Sahara's logo became a hot controversy during the Champions Trophy in 2002. By all this we learnt the basics of Ambush Marketing. We were introduced to a new term called IPR that stands for Intellectual Property Right. He gave us excellent examples of IPR through the means of the upcoming ICC Twenty20 World Cup, describing how ICC got its terms and trademarks very cleverly to avoid Ambush Marketing. Moving on to News Channels, we learnt that News Corporation, owned by an Australian American news mogu; Rupert Murdoch and that it is the biggest news news agency across the globe. He told us that STAR stands for Satellite Television Asian Region and ESPN implies Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, something that not many people know about. We also learnt about a term 'footprint' which is a code that decides the frequency of a show and helps to stop piracy. In the end he made us jump into a discussion about Unmukt Chand and the victorious Under-19 Indian team and how nuisance value adds to a sportsperson's brand value. The class was again a reciprocated couple of hours that was full of knowledge.

Getting Ronnie Boy Back

Courtesy: thefootballasylum.com

Dear C.Ronaldo,
It has been 2 long years when we last saw you in the Red jersey of Manchester United hailing the trophy you netted. Time has passed and now, you are living your dream. You are where, you thought you belong and hence, life is amazing.
Well, I wasn’t that a fan of football when you joined United but when I heard your view about the Jersey no.7, you became my upcoming hero. After all, I loved Beckham.
Yes, I had not seen Beckham play in the red shirt much but then, he was my icon. Since you took his place, I, like other fans, had my expectations stuck to you. You were playing good, good enough to please your fans. Then you took Portugal to the Euro final in 2004, which definitely added tons of fans to your bags. Well what then, you had everything. From goals to fans, everything was going fine.
It was 2008, a regular year for a fanatic and we all waited for your magic to shiver our worlds. I counted you as our next George Best, as your name shivered my spine, the very same way. You had the same lethality in you. You were scary for every squad and people regarded you as their ‘Magician’ at Old Trafford. Goals after goals and goals even after, you were living the dream. Trust me, we loved you. Well, we still do.
As you lived my expectations, you were my personal hero. When people said legends, you flashed my mind and soul. Amazingly, I had the best time of my life, as a footy fan. And then, you were ripping opponents with your charm. You were running fast, as the boots had magnetic approach with the field. You dribbled as the ball could not be taken away from your boots and then, you were UNITED’S NUMBER 7. 2008, undoubtedly, could have been the best season for you.
As people assumed that fame hit you like a break, you will change and your firm will drop, nothing of that sort happened. You continued brilliantly and you did not stop scoring.
It was 2009 and, out of the world, you broke my heart. You decided to join the Spanish giantsReal Madrid. Even though I knew, you wanted to go Spain, I hated you. I hated you every moment till you sign up for those 80 million Euros. But for a fan across miles, why would you care. Well, eventually, I realized, you claimed your dream and I cursed myself, for hating you. I knew, you were living your dream and to support it, I like Madrid too. Manchester United still is my favourite, by the way.
Well what then, Viva La Ronaldo. You still are the king of hearts of every Manchester United fan and we still love you at Madrid. You are still scoring, although, I wish it was for United.
As people compare you to Messi, disgust rush over me. Messi is amazing, agree. But, what is the point of comparing two different humans, who are playing in their primes. You both are legends in the making, so let us chuck this part.
Moving forward, you are a complete footballer. You look good, hot and charming. Enough to make girls sit and watch football, even when they don’t know the rules. You play so well that boys won’t mind being the next you. And then, you are special to the very special Jose.
As I read people writing of you coming back to United, I don’t mind praying every 11.11 for the same. I hope you finish your career with us, at United. Do this for your fans, Ron. Do this for the hope; we have struck with you forever.
In the hope that you’ll be back-
A United Fan.

Ronaldo set to leave Real Madrid?

Players define a team. Good players make up an average team but a good squad makes a Championship winnning team. As we stand on the verge of the Winter break and the upcoming transfer season. The rumours are running riot and the wildest of specultations seems a reality now. Players are up for grabs, and it will be interesting to see which Manager makes it count this transfer window. Time to get to work Managers and bring some quality in your side.(Unless you are thinking off buying Carroll).
Manchester United were relatively active over the summer with the deals of Ashley Young, Phil Jones and David De Gea to bolster their squad. Young and Jones in particular have been sensational so far this season, and the pair have already made the 36.5 million outlay on them as money well spent. De Gea has made up his ground after a horror start.
Ferguson is a master of reinvention, and the Scot is an advocate of refreshing his squad at every opportunity, a policy that has served him well throughout his career. So, we are sure to some new faces in red before the end of the season.
Okay, it's a long shot given Ronaldo's success since arriving in Madrid, but the portigese has "refused to rule out a Return" to Premier League. And if he were to make a dramatic u-turn and head back to the league where he made his name, what better club for him to continue at than United? Ronaldo didn't endear himself to all and sundry at United with the way he flirted with Real Madrid in the run-up to his eventual departure, but his relationship with the one man who counts seems to be rock solid.
Once, his 80 Million move to the Bernabeu had been signed and sealed, Ronaldo was quick to point out that he considered Alex Ferguson as a father figure in sport and one of the most influential fact in his career. And it seems that his relationship with the United boss has stood the test of time and distance, with Ronaldo recently revealing he still considers Ferguson to be his "second dad" and that he regularly picks up the phone to chew the fat with him.
United don't need Ronaldo any more - they have evolved without him and found different ways of breaking down opposition defenses - but that is not to say he would not be a welcome addition to the side that is facing an unlike-United period now!
He offers so much, it's hard to imagine he wouldn't waltz straight back into Ferguson's side. The question is, would Ferguson bring back a player who left the club to go to Spain? He's done it before with Mark Hughes - with quite some success, so why not with one of the best players the club has ever known? Stranger things have happened.
Ronaldo had also revealed that he would like to come back to Manchester within a short span of time. Many think that United can't spend the big bucks right now because of debt problems. But The actual rule is that a club can spend the same amount they make a profit of and Manchester United have a net profit of around 100 million. So FUNDS ARE NOT A PROBLEM.
After the El Clasico, many Madrid fans booed Cristiano on his way back to the dressing room. I accept that he had a bad day but still... that's no way to treat your star player. I wish he realises what United and their fans stand for and makes an unlikely comeback. I would like to end this speculation by repeating the chant
                                            "Viva Ronaldo, Viva Ronaldo
                                              Get him on a plane,
                                              Get him back from Spain.
                                              Viva Ronaldo"

Opa Gangnam Style

Youtube - one of the most used website in the world. Youtube was started with the idea that people can share their videos with the world via this platform. One of the latest "outbreaks" on this website is the Gangnam Style. If you haven't watched it, you are missing out on a huge thing. Do watch this video and try those dance steps.

Manchester City hated for their Barcelona-esque antics?

The Blue end of Manchester has undergone severe changes in form and authority. The Sheikh has brought loads of talent to the less popular of the Stadiums of Manchester. Okay, he has done it with plenty of Oil money, but he still has the funds, and he sure as hell knows to spend it well. He has brought some immense talent to the Premier League. Be it Silva, or Aguero, or Balotelli; the talent bought is unpalpable. Sheikh Mansoor has resurrected a lesser known half of Manchester and has brought the Battle of Manchester to a fair ground.
I am a Manc, and I have often seen people hurling derogatory remarks at the Blue end. I too have been in this lot of people. But later I realised my mistake. I had no reason to hate them, other than them being our rivals. But hating them for buying players? Aren't we being the supreme hippocrates when we say this? I know, many of you would disagree with me but ask yourself one question. Ask yourself about the reason to hate City?
What wrong have they done? If bringing quality players to your squad is a crime, then Every manager would love to be a criminal. Mancini had the funds and he moved on with his plans. If any manager knows that he'll be backed by HUGE(read infinite) funds, he can go berserk in the transfer window and still manage to make some decent signings. They have definitely added to the pressure in the already Inflation hit transfer market. Any team now has to make sure  that they not only have to make a decent enough bid to sign a player but also make sure that they bid a considerably high amount so that City don't hijack the bid. It has all come down to the primary theory of Charles Darwin, "Survival of the fittest."
So, competition is always considered healthy for any field. And Sports is any different from it. But Pundits too have often criticised Man City for their aggressive approach to transfers. When asked, everyone say that it isn't "FAIR". Who will decide what's fair and what's not? You, me, Pundits or the UEFA? The Fair Play rule inducted by the UEFA has been under the scanner for a long time and time and again flaws have been discovered in it. So, Spending Money is definitely NOT A CRIME.
Manchester City are a club who have risen from the annals of anonimity to the pinnacle of success in a very short span of time. They have bought players, vigorously, and have taken their squad to new heights as the players have added flair to the the squad and to the League in a whole. The new players have brought a much wanted flair and spark. Silva has taken the passing skills in the League to a all new height. Aguero has added the goal scoring intent to the Blue end of Manchester.
The critics still chose to condemn Manchester City because of their antics in the tranfer window. But have you ever asked this question to yourself - "Why Do I hate City so much?"
You will definitely find yourself reeling over this question. Unless you hate them just for being the rival club of your favourite team, you definitely lack the true reason to hate City. Then why do we see so many fans and pundits go all guns blazing on the new and rising team of the toughest league in the world. We criticise them for being a real force in the tranfer market and for playing "Boring"(read passing-style) football. But aren't we forgetting that these two styles are used by the spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona over the years. So, indirectly we are hating Manchester City for Emulating the perfect of amulgamation of the spanish giants.
Real Madrid have been bolstering their squad time and again. But no one has questioned their tactics. In the face of "Galacticos", they crooked all the "fair-play" and brought together one of the costliest team. They bought he best talents in Europe to overshadow their Catalunyan Opponents. Beckham, Zidane, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos and many others came together to form a team to reckon with. Did we question them? Where was UEFA at that point of time? No one stepped up and stop them. Were they afraid of the monetary backdrop of the Galacticos? Even Barcelona are the second most spending team in Europe in the past decade. They buy a new striker every tranfer season religiously. They have the best youth academy in the world but they still spend big, No one can deny that fact. Why haven't UEFA ever questioned these Two Giants of world football?
Some critics have often questioned the slow tempo of the playing style of the League Leaders. They pass the ball too often amongst themselves and then kill the tempo, English League is reknowned for. In Spain, this style of football is known as "tiki-taka". Pass the opponents to death and Bore the viewers to death. But still people find Barcelona's style of play "intriguing", "beautiful" and "styish" whereas City are branded to play "boring" and "slow" football. Talk about double standards, eh?
I guess the whole City team should wear the world-reknowned T-shirt of "Why Always Us?" Why are we targetting the new force in the league? Are We afraid of competition? We shouldn't dig too deep to criticise the Blue Side of Manchester. Let's embrace the change in the new ball game and accept the new challenge. Remember, To Beat the Best, you will have to Beat the Best. Let's see whether the Rise of the Blue Moon is good enough to last some time or is it just a temporary run of the mill. :-)

BARISH K BAAD DILLI KI SADKO KA HAAL

YE IMAGES HAI BARISH K BAAD DILLI KI SADKO KI

The real reason of water logging is thal all covered drains are choked and no one is cleaning them. in the status report filed by the MCD to the court on the action taken, they showed that they had done de-silting. But if they had done it, Delhi wouldn't be submerged. The entire responsibility should be given to santation department. If the sweeper is responsible for cleaning the road, but not responsible for the drain behind it, his tendency is to shove themuck in thedrains because that is not his responsibility. The responsibility of the drain and street should be with the man who is cleaning it.

Whereas the sanitation department has a 60,000 strong staff, the Engineering department has no system to go and clean all thosedrains. The result: all the drains in delhi are choked. Every year, because of the rains, people suffer and roads worth crores of rupees are damaged. Re-carpeting is required. And the misery suffered by commuters cannot be described in words.

The responsibility of sanitation is very clearly laid down. It is that of the municipal corporation. It si started in the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, and various Supreme Court and High Court orders have also made that clear.

On Saturday, we had our lecture with Dr Atish Parashar, New Media teacher. We continued the class with the discussion on websites and  learned about the things to be kept in mind while making a website.

1) Consider a target audience . Find a common ground while choosing your audience.
2) One should be very precise about defining an objective.
    and Planning of launching process of website is divided into 3 production phases;
  •        Pre reproduction
  •        Production
  •        Post production
3) Never compromise with content in web journalism.
4) Space is less therefore
  •     Use bullets or hyper links
  •     Use narrative style
  •     Precise writing is very important
  •     Use active voice and first and second person.
5) Learn chunk writing for web i.e write 2 to 3 line paragraphs having a single thought. This chunk writing is a reason for popularity of Wikipedia.
6) Web is a platform which supports all other form of media.
As web is the platform for all media we first learned about the newspaper medium
  • Hickey gadget was the first newspaper of India and was published by James Augutus Hickey on 29 Jan 1780 which is also celebrated as the journalism day.
  •  Udant Martand ,a  Hindi newspaper was launched by Pandit Shridhar Shukla  on 30 may 1826.
Some new words like web portal too was introduced.
WEB PORTAL- A website is static in nature but a web portal is more dynamic, has more navigation options, it can be extended and has unlimited space. Its actually a portal which posts mini pages.

Media is not for generation ,its for construction. As a journalist we are suppose to investigate the stories and facts.
