International Day of Older Persons

1st October, International Day of Older Persons is celebrated. On December 14, 1990 the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day of Older Person. The day is celebrated for raising awareness about issues affecting the Elederly, such as senescence and elder abuse. It is also a day to appreciate the contributions that older people made to our society.
Elderly care
or simply eldercare is the fulfillment of the special needs and requirements that are unique to senior citizens. This broad term encompasses services as :
  • Assisted living
  • Adult Day care
  • Long term care
  • Nursing homes
  • Hospice
  • In Home Care


"In the current fiscal environment, we must be vigilant in ensuring that the provision of social protection, long-term care and access to public health for the elderly is not undermined. On this International Day of Older Persons, I call everyone to provide more opportunities for their aging populations."
