Numera Magicano

Numbers, the symbols that have paved the way for human development through years. Since the time of Adam and Eve, numbers have been prevalent in the human psyche. For some, it's fun; for others, it not. Human society has been a witness to many of the spectacular occasions when a mere number engraved itself into the annals of history. It's enchanting how dates like 3rd March became Pie Day or How soccer fans related themselves to Number '7'. Numbers are proof that many times in life, you can feel so much yet speak so little.
Some numbers have now been so imbibed in day-to-day life that they exist in our conscious  A random occurrence of 143 in a calculation brings an evil grin on the face of many or even mentioning the number 99 brings sweat on the foreheads of the Sachin lovers whereas having a roll number as weird as 69 is one of the dreams of a college student(Yes, may would disagree but deep down everyone agrees). Our perception regarding things have undergone a drastic change..... Some numbers have become special. Special, for a reason!
Some people think that human relationship with numbers is merely superficial with no emotions involved. As a very good friend of mine Stacy puts it, "Because Brain can't feel like a heart can". This an absolutely wrong assumption. Numbers are linked deep into human feelings. Being a Manchester United fan, I can tell you about my attraction for the Number "7". While many in India believe in numerology, "developed" countries like England write it off as simple superstition. In this scenario, it becomes particularly interesting to see the number 7 dominate football through the years. No, the best player isn't given the number 7 of the team but every new member who shows some promise is given this number. The journey of a complete newbie to a Superstar is done by the fuel provided by this number. David Beckham went on to the heights of glory from being a 17 year old player to a World wide phenomena due to this number. A completely fragile and a "flop"(As labelled by "The Sun") Ronaldo became the best player in the world because of this number.
Even India won the World Cup in 2011 when a Captain doning the number 7 jersey sent the ball sailing into the stands! Still you people say that numbers don't possess magical qualities? Think Again! ;)
Numbers are something divine. Words can't be cued together to express these symbols in words. Numbers have become Inspirations, Numbers have become Aspirations. Numbers have caused Perspiration. Crores of students toil their rears off for the elusive "100" in exams. You maybe an emotionless businessman but you always skip a beat when you see your bank balance increase. Things aren't always Black and White.. Some things are better left unexpressed and Numbers excel in that. Let's hope that our relationship with Numbers ends a lifetime.
