German National Team's European Venture

Every football fan would admit that the most underachieving and unlucky team in International football is Germany. They have been the most consistent team of recent times. Their worst performance in the last 10 years was when they have lost out in the semi finals. This is enough proof about how Germany have come up with a great squad year after year. This year, the Germans are enthusiastic about pushing it to all the way to glory.
The squad has a perfect blend of youth and experience. Klose and Podolski are a veteran duo who aren't that good when it comes to club football, but in a German shirt, they are probably the best two players you'd love to have in your strike force. Bastian Schwensteiger and Philip Lahm are the best in the business. The former can run riot in the midfield while the latter kept Messi in his pockets during the World Cup clash. Mesut Ozil and Thomas Muller were a revealation in the last World Cup where they stepped up brilliantly from the Under 21 team and fitted in to steam roll over oppositions until the German team came to a halt against the Spaniards. Mario Gotze is the most notable new addition to the squad. He has been tipped as the most promising player to be playing in this year's European Champonship. Mario Gomez has had a super season in the Bundesliga and he will be up there to prove a point for Germany.

FORMATION : 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-2-2-1

                       Neuer
Boateng     Badstuber         Hummels        Lahm
       Schwensteieger     Khedira
   Muller             Ozil               Podolski
                   Klose/Gomez

The Classic German style of play is most effective when played with the classic formation of 4-2-3-1. Bastian Schwensteieger distributes the ball to orchestrate every German attack. Ozil, Podolski and Muller choke the opposition defense by beautiful and swift passing combined with brilliant wing play tear apart oppositions resulting into Goals galore. The inclusion of Mario Gotze will be an interesting thing to watch out for. He is an attacking midfielder but in the current set-up there can only be one attacking midfielder who is Ozil. Thus, the second formation will be effective in this scenario.

                       Neuer
Boateng     Badstuber         Hummels        Lahm
                  Schwensteieger
            Gotze                 Ozil
    Muller                               Podolski
                    Klose/Gomez

Klose may be prefferred over Gomez as Germany never play with the classic Number 10. Manuel Neuer is arguably the best keeper in modern times. The back four are rock solid and the midfield is probably the best midfield in the competition.

Injuries and Suspentions:
Michael Ballack is the most notable absentee from the squad. The former German Captain retired after being overlooked by the Coach for a long time. The present squad is injury free and raring to go the distance.

IMPACT PLAYERS:

1) Bastian Schwensteieger
The Midfield Maestro willbe up for a challenge. He would like to redeem himself after missing out the final penalty in the final of the Champions League. He can deliever exquisite passes and get some piledrivers in from long range. The Bayern Munich midfielder will be the orchestrater of every attack in the ranks.

2) Mesut Ozil
The Real Madrid star made his impact on world stage two years ago with a scintilating performance in the World Cup. When Germans take the field, all eyes will be on him to play well and make his country proud.

Predicted Finish:
With the brilliant squad and passionate players, Germany are expected to atleast make it into the Last four. But one can see no reason why they won't finish as the Champions of Europe. The German Players try and give their best for the country unlike the players of other countries. I expect an attractive German squad which will score bucket loads of goals and make it big this Championship. Some brilliant football can be expected from the European powerhouse.
