Aman (The Economic Times) tasks for students

Mam,
I have enclosed two press releases. As freshers, new joinees are oftensupposed to re-write such press releases and make 300-350 wordstories. It will be a good exercise for them before I come to taketheir next class.
As you are aware, writing for the online medium is a different ballgame. So I will like them to write two versions - one a straightforward copy for a new daily and the other for the online medium.
TIPS FOR WRITING A GOOD COPY (PRINT)
* Intro should be a summary of whole copy
* As a first step, you should ask yourself why are you writing thestory (what's new?)
* Your second sentence should explain the implications of what youwrote in the first sentence.
For instance,
Intro isThe National Stock Exchange (NSE) is planning to launch futurestrading in the rupee-euro currency pair next year.Second sentence will beThis will allow Indian firms to hedge their currency exposure in theEurope market.
And third sentence will beAt present, many of them are either taking covers in dollars or usingcross-currency swaps to hedge their euro exposure.
* Always KISS (keep it short & simple) your write-up
TIPS FOR WRITING A GOOD COPY (ONLINE)
* Get the awe factor with a spicy intro or make it intrguing (what?)
For instance,Indian cricketer Yuvraj SIngh has done it again.(most readers will think may be he has won India another match or hitsix sixes in an over again. By writing an intro like this, you areactually playing on the curosity of readers)
Next sentenceThe swashbuckling batsman broke off with his long time standinggirlfriend Kim Sharma, a bollywood actress, after reviving therelationship six months back. (Reader is now hooked)
* Have many aspects to the story
For instance,The split has made an impact on the south paw's form on the cricketingfield too. Singh averages a dismal 20 runs in his last five innings, against his career average of 40 runs.
