Asia's largest B2B fair , the International Handicrafts and Gifts Fair (IHGF) surprised me like nothing before, the purely Indian made items ranging from metalwares to carpets to jewelleries. They where more beautiful than of any other country , their quality, finishing was perfect. More than 2700 exhibitors where their displaying their products, while on the otherside more than thousands of foreign buyers from USA , Europe ,Middle east and many more, attended to source the requirements.
Interesting I met Sangay Palden and her husband, from Sikkim . They came to display there 100% organic lamp made up of seeds from Oroxylum Indicum and bamboo. Sangay palden claims her self to be first one to make such lamp. Another Exhibitors Kazim from Moradab was busy trying sell his Metal Wall Clocks.
One Buyer from Sweden said he believe India metalware have no match from other part of the world. Many buyers where interested in Rugs and carpets. Unique furniture designs attracted many buyers.
The event will be till 18th of this month, Export Promotion Council for Handicraft , EPCH who has organised this event who is trying to promote exports, and has a major contributors in the rise of Indian handicrafts exports. Yet many things new improvement such as better event management and organisation.
Together with Exportors, artisans and agents can help EPCH make improvements in handicraft's exports.
