CLASS REPORT: 9/11/2010

We had session on Tuesday with Anil Pandey

Anil Pandey is the General Secretary of Delhi Journalists Association. The session was on how to develop a media centre, when you organize a event. Be it a big or small event, the organizers must try to develop a media centre.

What is a media center?

A media centre would be a place where you’ll all kind of news and information about the event organized. This will help the in getting a better coverage of the event. At the same time by providing the right information people will be more interested to know about the event. If the event has to get a full coverage by electronic media and print media also then it must have a media centre.

Some of the important things which are a part of media centre are:

· There should be a media kit. A media kit includes- 1) information related to the organization of the whole event. 2) The time, the location and the information regarding various activities is also provided in a media kit. 3) list of sponsors must be provided. 4) there must be a backgrounder of the event as well (telling the history or facts about that event). 5) broachers’ and pamphlets must be provided.

· The people at the media centre must be good at communication, should be able to address all the queries of the people.

· If people from media, should be entertained well. Try and give them some snacks, beverages or some gift.

· There must be a facility for internet.

· Media centre must hold information regarding the media houses, who can be a part of the event.

· This all must be done, keeping in consideration the budget constraint.

The session guided us for organizing a good event. Anil Pandey sir gave us information about which we students had no knowledge.
