DID YOU KNOW ???

India has been celeberating TEACHER'S DAY on 5th September, since 1962. The day commemorates the birthday of Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a philospher and a teacher par excellence and his contributionn towards Indian education system. He believed that '' teacher's should be the best minds in the country ".On this day we remember the great educationist apart from honoring all the teacher's that have made our life much more knowledgeable and fulfilled ,as serving as our beacons of life.
Dr. Radhakrishnan's birthday came to be celebrated as TEACHER'S DAY when ,one day, some of his students and friends requested him to celebrate his birthday. In reply he said "instead of celebrating my birthday separately it would be my proud privelege if September 5th is observed as TEACHER'S DAY " .From that day this day is celebrated as TEACHER'S DAY all across India.

Teachers act as a foundation for creating responsible citizens and good human beings. They are the cornerstone of our future.

I WISH EVERY ONE A HAPPY TEACHER'S DAY as at some point or the other everyone is a teacher.

  2. Nice post, Jaz..:-)
However, in all there are 2 posts related to Teachers' Day, but nowhere did I find a mention of this one fact, which appears very crucial to me.
World Teachers' Day is observed on 5th October. But Teachers' Day in different countries is celebrated on different days. And as rightly pointed out by you, Teachers' Day in India is celebrated on 5th September to commemorate Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the second President of Independent India.
